How do you know your hormones are balanced?

How do you know your hormones are balanced? It’s like achieving the mystical unicorn right?!?

I see many women who just know they aren’t feeling right. They know there is something off and wondering what might be the cause.

When you are struggling with low energy, cravings, PMS, weight gain, poor sleep then that tells us that things are NOT balanced.

I often use the list for balanced hormones as a check list. When we are able to work on your health, we are able to see how well your hormones are responding to the day! It is satisfying for see these changes happening, albeit can be a slow process!

What does it FEEL like to have balanced hormones?

– sleeping 7-9 hours a night

– energy throughout the day between en

– stable mood

– no brain fog

– clear skin

– no mid-cycle spotting

– healthy sex drive

– regular daily bowel movements

– able to maintain a steady weight

– Basal Body temperature averaging 97.4 in follicular phase and 93.5 in

luteal phase

– no painful periods

– no PMS symptoms painful periods

– a menstrual cycle between 24-35 days

– no mid-cycle spotting

– ovulating each month a menstrual cycle between 24-35 days

Causes of these hormonal imbalances can be due to things like stress, poor digestion/nutrition, poor sleep, lack of exercise/movement. Finding the root cause can be a game changer for women trying to find that proper balance!!

Simple ideas to aim for include:

  1. Nutrition – prioritizing protein at every meal can help stabilize blood sugar and keep cravings down. Also protein is helpful for maintaining muscle mass which we lose as we age
  2. Stress management – Stress can cause havoc on our hormones affecting our energy, our mood, our sleep! Understanding how we manage our stress is vital to balanced hormones
  3. Exercise – Prioritizing movement for our musculoskeletal health and also mental health can be a great way to naturally balance your hormones
